Glimpses of Life

On this occasion of my 250th blog post over eight long years, I’d like to thank you for staying with me through my changes in hobbies! I hope to continue enjoying the pleasure of your company in the future too.

As always, here’s a recent art journal spread of mine –

I started this spread by applying some acrylics paint, which I dispersed by spritzing water on it. I then mixed metallic acrylics with modeling paste, and applied it on the page through a stencil. I dabbed the same mixture using a palette knife for additional texture.

I now applied the metallic acrylics paint around the textured area, spritzing it with water to disperse it. Following this, I used some dye ink with a stamp on areas of the background.

For the focal insects and flower, I used stamps with dye ink, and fussy cut the shapes. I colored them using watercolor pencils and a water brush pen. After reinforcing the outlines using multiliners, I used oil-based pencils to accentuate the colors some more, and adhered the components to the background.

For the quote, I used dye ink with a stamp. I then fussy cut around the words, adhered the strips to the background, and added multiliner outlines to them. I finished the spread with acrylics splatters. Ta da!
