Elegant White Earrings

It’s time for yet another reveal at Art Elements, and this month, Claire Fabian has thought of ‘White‘ as the theme.

I ran through my ever-growing to-do list of projects, wondering if white could be the star in any of them. In the end, as it happens more often than not, I made a brand new project. πŸ™‚

Elegant White Earrings | Anita

I used a right angle weave stitch with white pearl beads as the basis of the beading, with silver seed beads added between the beads for a netting / lace-like effect. I’d started out with an all-white palette, but wasn’t connecting with the earrings I was making, so I redid them with some gunmetal colored beads added in. I like this two-color version much better, and since white is still the defining color in the project, I don’t have any regrets about the addition!

I added white teardrop beads and hematite seed beads to the bottom for more dimension and interest. To finish the earrings, I only had to attach earwires to the top. I like how these earrings turned out looking elegant and traditional.

The sneak peeks from the Art Elements team and the guests have been interesting, so don’t forgot to join us in the blog hop. Thank you, Claire, for a serene theme to end the year with!

  1. I totally agree with you. White is a hard colour and always looks better with an accent. Your earrings almost give a checker board vibe

    1. Thank you, Cat! I love this combination, and thinking of other colors that work well together, I’ll probably add a few more pieces to my queue…

    1. Thank you Alysen! You’re right of course. I was kind of sure about the all-white when I picked the beads, but the tiny bit of disappointment vanished when I saw version 2 turning out well. πŸ™‚

  2. These are gorgeous! They remind me of snowflakes. I think the gunmetal was a beautiful addition. And, if you just weren’t connecting with the project in all white but did with the gunmetal, then they were the perfect addition.

    1. Thank you Cathy! The frosty look from the silver beads is what eventually made me start feeling these look like snowflakes, haha! πŸ™‚

  3. The earrings turned out beautifully…. I think if the all white wasn’t working then that’s best for you to add the dark beads then that’s the way to go…. The Challenge is your interpretation of the theme…. It worked out lovely 😁

  4. The earrings turned out just lovely! I also think that if one looks for inspiration in nature, there is nearly no stark white but rather subtle differences and shadows. I think your combination brought out the white and sparkle in a wonderful way! πŸ™‚ Thank you for participating in this month’s theme challenge (especially since this also was the first one I hosted!) πŸ™‚
