[Challenge win: Top rocker at 613 Avenue Create challenge]
[Challenge win: Winner / future guest designer at Arty Divas challenge]
It’s fun to impose mini challenges on yourself once in a while. These days, I’m attempting to use a single stencil as much as possible for a given spread, and it’s amazing to me that ideas occur when I thought there’s no way I could stretch just one stencil for an entire session. And sometimes, ideas don’t occur, and that’s fine by me since having fun is the primary goal of art journaling, and the challenge is secondary.
For this spread, I did manage to use one stencil, and created layers with it to make the background interesting. I started out by applying acrylic paints using a gel plate, and with more layers from acrylic paint lifting and pouncing, the background was vibrant in no time.
I stamped the little birdie on a different piece of paper, fussy cut it, pasted it on the spread, and used watercolor pencils and water brush pens to color it. I then used a fineliner to make the already scribbly stamped lines even scribblier.
For the quote, I used cling foam stamps and clear stamps with dye inks, and outlined the letters with a fineliner. Some white dots with marker pens completed the spread. Ta da!
With this spread, I’m joining the following challenges –
