Here’s a recent art journal page of mine –

I made this on kraft paper. After a couple of attempts at making art on kraft paper, I’ve found that it is a completely different experience than using plain uncolored paper. I like it! 🙂
I first used a gel plate with acrylics and a stencil for a ghost print. I then pounced acrylics directly over a stencil. I added some fineliner outlines to the stenciled areas, and used stamps with dye ink to add more texture to the background.

For the focal image, I fell back to my non-dominant hand for the initial drawing, and used a fineliner over it for a refined version. I then used watercolor pencils with a water brush pen to add some color to the image, followed by oil-based pencils for some deeper shading. I fussy cut the image, adhered it to the page, and used a stamp with dye ink over the body of the person.
For the quote, I fussy cut a printed phrase, ran a water-based marker along the edges, adhered the strips to the page, and ran some oil-based pencils on the strips for some light color. Ta da!
With this page, I’m joining these challenges –
Very nice job there. The quote is so true!
