Here’s a recent art journal spread of mine –

I made this spread on a page made of wax paper–I’d used various materials for the pages of this art journal, and I’ve been loving working on all of them.
I started off by brushing acrylics on the page. I then adhered lots and lots of washi tape over the pages, tearing most of them up before sticking them.
Since the washi tapes all have different surface textures, I brushed some diluted gesso over them for some uniformity in my next layers.

I lightly stamped some text and images using dye inks, and then decided to not add any more layers since I really liked the look of the background.
For the focal components, I used flower and butterfly die cuts, on which I applied watercolors and acrylics. I also used a Copic marker on the butterfly’s body. I then adhered both over the background.
I handwrote the quote, and hand-tore the paper around the phrases. I applied dye ink at the edges for a hard boundary, and reinforced the edges with a multiliner. I then adhered the strips to the background to finish the spread. Ta da!
With this spread, I’m joining these challenges –
Such fabulous ink work here!
