Here’s a recent art journal spread of mine –

I started this page with a background of dye ink smooshes, over which I used stamps with more dye ink. I then used a gel plate with metallic acrylics to obtain splatters and smooshes of the paint. I then applied acrylics by brushing them across the middle of the page.
I made the focal figures on a piece of scrap paper. I first applied gesso over the paper, and started the faces by drawing a reference outline of each with my non-dominant hand–I find this a useful technique to truly relinquish control for asymmetrical faces and let my drawing be free.

I fussy cut the figures, adhered them to the background, and colored them using watercolor pencils with a water brush pen. I added loose outlines over the penciled reference lines using fineliners, and then added more nuances using multiliners. I then used oil-based pencils for additional shaded coloring. Once done, I added highlights using white gel pens and a white Posca marker.
To write the quote, I used a black water-based marker, and highlighted the writing using a white gel pen. I used a fineliner to add some borders to the spread, and finished the session by adding additional marks using stamps, dye inks, and some water spritzing. Ta da!
With this spread, I’m joining these challenges –

Thank you so much, Vicky! Sometimes, the other perspective is indeed the opposite of ours. 🙂
