Here’s a recent art journal spread of mine –
This spread is the result of my goal of using a gel plate as much as I could in this session. So I started off using a thin layer of acrylic paint that I transferred off the gel plate. I then used stencils and acrylics with the plate.
I followed this with acrylics splatters on the gel plate, over which I pressed the journal pages. Finally, I used dye inks with some stamps to give it some extra texture.
I stamped the focal figures using archival ink on a different piece of paper. I then made splatters again on the gel plate, this time with metallic acrylics. I pressed the paper over these. When the paper was dry, I fussy cut the figures and adhered them clumped on the background. I used a water-based marker to fill up the small gaps between the figures.
For the quote, I used dye inks with stamps for the uppercase letters, and hand-wrote the rest using a gel pen and a fineliner. At the edges, I used distress ink and watercolor pencils, and spritzed a little water over it. I then drew a border using a fineliner, and added some marks using a Copic marker. Ta da!
With this spread, I’m joining these challenges –
