[Challenge win: Top rocker at 613 Avenue Create challenge]
Here’s a recent art journal of mine –
I love using stencils to create backgrounds, especially with a gel plate, and that’s what I did here as well, using both with acrylic paints. I then added some brushes of acrylics that I spread out by spritzing water.
I then used more stencils, pouncing acrylic paints over them this time. I also added acrylics splatters and then pounced acrylics along the edge of the spread for a light vignette.
For the focal image, I hand-drew a figure with a pencil on a different piece of paper, which I fussy cut and adhered over the background. To add color to the figure, I used various media–watercolor pencils & cakes with a water brush pen, oil-based color pencils, fineliners, and gel pens.
I then added the quote, again starting on a different piece of paper. I used dye inks with a stamp for this, fussy cut strips, ran a water-based marker along the edges, and adhered the strips on the background. I finished the spread by adding borders with a water-based marker and a Posca marker, and then some Posca marker dots. Ta da!
With this spread, I’m joining these challenges –
