Here’s a recent art journal spread of mine –
I started the spread with a lot of gel printing fun using acrylics and stencils. I also used stencils and acrylics without a gel plate. This started giving a grunge-y effect.
I then brushed some paint over the using a palette knife to add to the grunge. I also made some acrylics drips from the left edge.
For the focal hearts, I used gel printing scraps, which I hand tore in keeping with the grunge spirit, and adhered to the background. I outlined them with a fineliner. I also adhered a fussy-cut printed quote to the spread, with some finerliner outlines.
I then added more outlining to the hearts with a Posca marker and a water-based marker, and spritzed water to dissipate some of the marker ink. That finished the spread, ta da!
