Birdie Wishes

[Challenge win: Winner at STAMPlorations Stencil challenge]

Here’s a recent cheery art journal spread of mine –

Birdie Wishes | Art journal | Anita

I made this spread on a background of acrylics pounced over a stencil. As it sometimes turns out, I had other ideas for this background, but it ended up as it did, and I have no qualms about it! 🙂

For the birdies and the paisley patterns, I used different stamps from the same set, and dye ink. I spritzed each stamp with a bit of water before using it on the paper. I then used watercolor pencils with a water brush pen to paint over them. I used gel pens for the highlights, and watercolor pencils (with some water) for the shadows.

For the various sentiments, I used stamps and dye inks spritzed with water again, followed by highlights and shadows, both using gel pens.

I finished the spread with a quick border using Copic markers and a Posca marker. Ta da!
