Here’s a recent art journal spread of mine –
I made this spread to de-stress, and didn’t put much thought into it before, or during, the creative process. I still like how it’s turned out, though.
I started the spread by applying gesso onto the paper, and then pounced acrylics over a trees stencil in a couple of shades of a pink / violet combination. I then used stamps with dye inks to add flowers and leaves to give a spring-like feel to the background.
I liked the background as is, and decided I didn’t want a focal image for this spread. So I added some additional texture to the page by adding a lighter acrylic color using a texture stencil. I like how this reminds me of fog and breezes.
To complete the spread, I added a hand-lettered quote, and then some acrylics splatters. Ta da!
