It’s Monday, and it’s time for yet another Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! This is my final week in the Designer Spotlight for January on the Monday Challenge, and I must reiterate that I’m beyond delighted to have been accorded this honor.

This week, the challenge is: Let’s Be On Time

My project is a mixed media composition for a birthday. A birthday present needs to be on time, after all!

I started out by adding texture to a background cardboard using stencils and modeling paste. I applied heavy gesso after the modeling paste dried, and added acrylics with water spritzed over them. After this dried, I applied metallic wax on some raised parts of the texture.

For the strips of paper, I used gelprinting / monoprinting with stencils and acrylics, and a bit of pouncing of acrylics through a stencil. I ran a watercolor pencil at the edges of the paper strips, and added water for a vignette effect. I then added a thin coat of glittery acrylics for a beautiful shine. ❤

I then used acrylics with water spritzing on some diecuts, and added them to the composition, followed by more acrylics. I made polymer components using molds, and over a coat of gesso, I brushed metallic acrylics and metallic waxes over them.

After assembling all the above components, I also added some art stones, over which I added a brown acrylics wash employing more water spritzing. For the sentiment, I used card stock and stamps with dye inks, with watercolored edges. Finally, I added some acrylics splatters. Ta da!
