Here’s a recent art journal spread of mine –
I’d left this very first page in my art journal blank, since I’d originally intended to convert this into a cover. However, later in the year, I made a pair of covers for the art journal, so I made a spread on the blank first page. I like to make my background first with techniques involving stencils, and this time was no exception.
I started the page with rough strokes of acrylic paints, on which I used the paint lifting technique with a couple of stencils. I then pounced acrylics paints over more stencils. Over this, I used a feather stencil with two different acrylics colors for the foreground.
I used dye inks for some stamping, and added more marks with an oil-based marker, a Posca marker, and gel pens. I stamped a quote using dye inks, and added some gel pen outlines. I then fussy cut around the quote, adhered it onto the page, and again added gel pen outlines. I finished the spread by spreading some watercolors at the edges. Ta da!
Only a few more days remain in the year, and only a few more pages remain to be made into spreads until I stitch them up into an art journal!
With this spread, I’m joining these challenges –
