Diwali was earlier this month, and I was looking forward to a tranquil, peaceful one. However, it looks like people needed some cheering up this year, because my neighborhood was bursting with fireworks. Goodbye, dreams of tranquility! π
So instead, I made an art journal spread with a lot of sparkle and shine.

I made this spread on a couple of pages that were already sparkly with some leftover metallic acrylic paints from a previous art journaling session. Since people around me were going crazy with firecrackers, I went crazy with metallic acrylic splatters. It was a lot of fun, actually! π
I made the splatters around an area that I’d pre-designated for drawing a flowerpot (the firework, not the clay one.) So at the end of the splattering session, I used a Copic marker to sketch a flowerpot and some extra ‘lightning’ sizzle to indicate the copious amounts of light and noise that were around me.

I then jotted down the thoughts that I was having at the time as a quote using another Copic marker and a Posca marker, and drew a tiny column of diyas along one edge using sparkly gel pens. That completed the spread, ta da!
With this project, I’m joining the following challenges –
