I made this mixed media tag recently –
I applied clear gesso on a brown tag, and added some texture using modeling paste – a bit with stencils, and a bit directly using a palette knife. I stamped over this using black acrylic paints. I love how this produces an effect very much like using watercolors.
I doodled some flowers around the stamped shapes using a white Posca marker, and added more texture using stencils and white acrylics. Then, I added some color using blue and yellow acrylics.
I stamped an abstract figure and a moth on different paper, and fussy cut them to adhere on the tag. The insect lacked any texture, though, so I tried to add some watercolors to liven it up. That didn’t quite work, so I stamped butterfly wings on it. (Artistic license, I suppose…) I also added some watercolors to the abstract figure, and outlined it with a fineliner.
I added more doodles and marks using a Posca marker, an oil-based marker, and a fineliner. I also scribble-journaled over a part of the tag. To finish the project, I stamped and added a sentiment. Ta da!
With this project, I’m joining the following challenges –
