[Challenge win: Winner at A Bit More Time To Craft Extra challenge]
It’s been a while since I used my gel plate for something other than a background, so I made a spread inspired by a session from Birgit Koopsen on Creative Jumpstart 2020, where the gel-printed image forms the focal. I added the background after creating the gel-print.
I started the spread with some journaling, and then created the art over it using supplies that I’ve used pretty infrequently so far since I never remember that I have them. I’ll unfortunately have to omit my usual summary of how I created the art since I used techniques from a class. Instead, I’ll just mention that I wanted to make a spread that reminds me to feel confident about all the well-deliberated actions and decisions that I’ve taken thus far, and inspires me to keep aiming for things that make me happy in the long run.
The (creative) outcome of the process turned out to have a slightly more distressed / grunge effect than I expected. Also, the background is not gel-printed, and I think using a gel plate for it would have made it better suit the foreground. However, all in all, I think the spread does suit the mood that I was going for, and that makes me happy. Ta da? I think so!
With this spread, I’m joining the following challenges –
